Purposes and legal basis for processing (Art. 13(1)(c) GDPR)
The purpose is to provide data for the application to the Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering. This is one of the tasks of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
The information is required for the faculty’s processing of the applications.
The legal basis for this is Article 6 (1) (e) GDPR (public task).
Categories of recipients of personal data (Art. 13(1)(e) GDPR)
Employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are authorised to access data.
Duration of storage (Art. 13(2)(a) GDPR)
The data will be stored in accordance with RUB's retention policy. A period of 5 years applies.
Rights as a data subject (Art. 13(2)(b-d) GDPR)
Every data subject has the right to
• Information on the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 15 of the GDPR,
• Revocation of consent pursuant to Art. 7 GDPR,
• Rectification pursuant to Art. 16 GDPR,
• Deletion pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR,
• Restriction of processing in accordance with Article 18 of the GDPR,
• Objection to processing based on legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR.
The restrictions under Section 12 DSG NRW apply to the right of access and the right to erasure. In addition, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
Necessity of the information (Art. 13(1)(e) GDPR)
In case of refusal to provide information, the application cannot be processed.
Information pursuant to Art. 13 (1) (d) and (f) and Art. 13 (2) (f) is not to be provided as the respective condition of the legal regulation is not applicable.
